INTERNATIONAL SINGER, GENERAL DIRECTOR OF THE OPERA STUDIO BECKMANN
Benito Rodriguez made his operatic debut in 2011 with the character of Rodolfo in Puccini’s “La Boheme” in Mexico City and has since sung that role on several occasions in other cities in Mexico, the United States and Canada.
He has performed in festivals and opera houses in Ireland, Brazil, Israel, England, France, Italy, Dubai, Germany, the United States and Canada, among other countries.
In 2019, he recorded Gounod’s opera “Faust” with the National Symphony Orchestra of the United Kingdom.
In the same year, he participated with HBO as an actor and opera singer in that network’s new show, “The nevers”, directed by the renowned producer and film director Joss Whedon.
He also had the honor of singing the New York premiere of the opera “Il Postino” by composer Daniel Catán and the world premiere of “Shulamit” by composer Dina Pruzhansky.
Originally from Jalisco, Mexico, Rodriguez decided to become an opera singer after finishing his engineering studies. In 2008, he began his career in the choir of the Beckmann Foundation, which has been a very important pillar in his career. In 2009, he participated in the Artistic Opera program and, in 2011, he was selected to be part of the workshop of the International Society of Mexican Art Values (SIVAM), winning the Plácido Domingo scholarship. That same year, he made his debut in New York City in the project “Revealing Mexico.
He continued his training under the guidance of Maestro Plácido Domingo and international soprano Nelly Miricioiu, mentor of the Jette Parker Program of the Royal Opera House, with whom he has participated in multiple concerts and operas.
Besides being an opera singer, Benito is a cultural promoter, supporting Mexican singers through the Opera Studio Beckmann, giving them the opportunity of an operatic preparation of the highest level, with recognized masters from Mexico and the world.
Among his upcoming engagements, he will participate in the Rising Opera Star festival in Munich, Germany, with the renowned soprano Ricarda Merbeth, as well as sing, alongside Plácido Domingo, the roles of Alfredo from “La Traviata” in Guadalajara and Rafael from “Gato Montés” in Uruguay.
