Karen Gardeazabal began her formal training at the Conservatorio del Estado de México; in 2011 she did specialized studies with tenor Dennis O’Neil in Wales, United Kingdom and in 2015 she attended the International Opera Performing Experience in Italy.
She continued her preparation with the renowned pianist and teacher Ángel Rodríguez and was a fellow of the Perfection Workshop of SIVAM. She attended numerous master classes with Francisco Araiza, Ramón Vargas, Plácido Domingo, Ruth Falcon, Maureen O’Fkynn, Vlad Iftinca, John Fisher, Gregory Kunde, Davide Livermore, among others.
Gardeazabal is part of the prestigious Center for Perfection Plácido Domingo at the Palau les Arts Reina Sofia, in Valencia, Spain, where she made her debut as Adina in Donizetti´s L’Elisir D’Amore in the 2016-2017 season. Additionally, she has sung the Governess in The Turn of the Screw, besides participating as cover of Carmen Romeu as Elettra in Idomeneo and working under the baton of Fabio Biondi, Keri-Lyn Wilson and Christopher Franklin.
Karen made her international debut in Bogotá, Colombia at the gala “The Best of Mexican Lyric”. In Mexico City she participated in the gala “Javier Camarena: Prince among Tenors” in the National Auditorium. She has been presented at recitals and galas accompanied by orchestras such as the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco at Teatro Degollado in Guadalajara, Orquesta de Cámara de Bellas Artes and Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería in Mexico City as well as concerts with Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de México, under the direction of renowned conductors such as Enrique Bátiz, Marco Parisotto, José Areán and Ligia Amadio.
